Something about the webmaster..

Welcome to my Veneto-Explorer.com website.

Who am I?

My name is Lisa.

And...is that all? you may ask..

Well, I am quite a reserved person and..gosh! here I’m about to talk about myself not exactly in front of just a couple of friends!

I’ll try one more time...My name is Lisa, I was born and I live near Vicenza, a town in the heart of Veneto, a region in the north-east of Italy...yes, Veneto, just the subject of this site.

I have lived here for most of my life, except for a year in Germany, 10 months in Poland where I worked as a teacher of Italian language and culture at the University.
Plus, about 8 months in the USA (California and Colorado).

I attended the University in Padua - a Veneto’s town - and I have a master degree in Political Sciences. I am a Shiatsu practitioner as well...yes I am a person of many interests :)

What else should I say?... oh yes, I like hiking, and then riding with my race bike on the hills.
Then...I love animals, all of them, from cats to donkeys. Just a bit disgusted only by some insects like spiders, but I respect any form of life and I do not crush them or any of the other insects.

One of my personal goals is to travel more. I love to discover new places, different cultures. In every place in this world there is something beautiful.
At the current time, I am dreaming about Japan..might be my shiatsu thing..

So, back to the basics.. Why did I create a site about the italian region of Veneto? Yet better, why am I creating it, as it is a work in progress.

Because I know Veneto, warts and all, and I love it, and I know that it is a lot more than just Venice and Verona, and I wish people get to know it.

It does not mean that I know every inch of Veneto like the back of my hand, of course. However, having spent a lot of time here, I do know a lot, and furthermore I have an overall view of what is worth to see and do here. It is my backyard after all!
What I do not know well, I research carefully and in detail the information before writing about it.
It is my way, my style.

What I want, is to talk about all the Veneto, from the most well known destinations, like Venice, or Verona, to the remote, less famous places.
And I can guarantee that Veneto is full of places like that, getaway destinations like small medieval towns and castles surrounded by enchanting hills covered by vineyards and olive groves, where you can stop along a wine route for a wine tasting visit.
Still unbelievably timeless, as if it was not about one of the wealthiest regions, not only in Italy, but in all of Europe as well.

These charming places could even let you forget (and forgive) the main fault of Veneto: the fact of it being the mainland of a town called...Venice, with its undeniable beauty and uniqueness, which too often eclipse the other attractions on the mainland though.

So, I am going to talk about the Veneto’s must–see spots, especially the most attractive places worth seeing. Of course, because this site is meant both for traveler and people who want to discover the beauty of this region. I am going to talk, and to show with photos, primarily the places where I would recommend a friend go.

I believe that this planet should belong to everyone, and any person in this world should have the chance to see and know what mankind has created over the centuries.

Venice, Prague or Kyoto, they are cultural heritages owning to all of mankind, not just Italians’, Czechs’, Japaneses'..just my two cents!

I hope you will enjoy my website and you can find in it interesting hints and helpful information.
Please feel free to contact me with your comments, questions or suggestions.
I will be glad to write you back as soon as I can.
